Researcher says Prabowo is not closing himself off to advice from all quarters

Jakarta – A researcher from Indikator Politik Indonesia, Bawono Kumoro, says President Prabowo Subianto and his administration are open to inputs and advice from all quarters regarding foreign policy amid escalating international tensions. This demonstrates a democratic element in the functioning of government, allowing all members of society, including former presidents, to express their views and ideas for the country. The statement was made by Bawono with reference to Prabowo Subianto’s meeting with the President and Vice President of Indonesia at the State Palace on Tuesday (3/3). “This represents an openness on the part of President Prabowo in accepting suggestions from various parties regarding developments in the current global geopolitical situation arising from the military conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran,” Bawono told ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday. According to Bawono, such openness reflects President Prabowo’s commitment to building inclusive and transparent communication between President Prabowo and his predecessors. Not only with former presidents, this approach had previously been used by Prabowo, namely by inviting all former foreign ministers to the State Palace. This effort, according to Bawono, proves that Prabowo wants to ensure that all foreign policy decisions remain grounded in national interests as well as global humanitarian values. By adopting this method of discussion with these leaders, Bawono said, Prabowo and his administration will receive many views and considerations to craft strategic and beneficial foreign policy steps for the nation.
