Requirements for JKP and How to Claim It via SIAPkerja
Workers who are laid off are entitled to the Jaminan Kehilangan Pekerjaan (JKP) benefit. JKP is a social security programme providing cash benefits, labour market information, and training for workers who experience termination of employment (PHK).
According to the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker), the following requirements must be met to receive JKP:
Indonesian citizen (WNI)
Wage-earning worker (office/factory)
Not yet 54 years old when registered as a participant
Registered in the JKN BPJS Kesehatan programme
Working in a small or micro enterprise that participates in JKK, JKM, and JHT programmes
Working in a medium or large enterprise that participates in JKK, JKM, JHT, and JP programmes
Provisions for JKP Benefits:
Not all conditions of employment termination are treated equally under the JKP programme. The following provisions apply:
Workers who resign are not entitled to JKP
If a fixed-term employment contract (PKWT) expires according to its term, the worker is not entitled to JKP because the termination is by operation of law and not a layoff
JKP is not provided for: resignation, total permanent disability, death, contract expiry, or retirement
Laid-off workers must still meet JKP participation requirements and submit a claim no later than six months from the date of layoff
