The General Chairperson of the Republic Conference Committee, Sudirman Said, stated that the committee plans to conduct further consolidation in various regions. In July 2026, the committee plans to hold a consolidation meeting in West Java. “After that, in August or September, our colleagues in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, are willing to host,” he said following the Republic Conference in Cikini, Central Jakarta, on Sunday, 28 June 2026.

The former Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources added that consolidation will also take place in Medan, Bandung, and several cities in Sulawesi. He ensured that the committee would schedule these activities rotationally. “We need space for continuous dialectics, and this Republic Conference will continue to open that space in various locations,” he remarked.

He claimed that the consolidation is being carried out through a ‘gotong royong’ (mutual cooperation) approach, including regarding the funding of the sessions. During yesterday’s conference, participants discussed three main themes: platform, movement design, and management. The National Consolidation of the Republic Conference was held in Cikini, Central Jakarta, on Sunday, 28 June 2026.

The movement’s objective was agreed upon: to strive to restore citizens as subjects rather than objects. According to Sudirman, the community needs to be involved in both development and politics.

Conference participants also agreed on a networked organisational design. The third theme addressed management, where 17 individuals were approved to join the new management, bringing the total to 20 members. However, their specific roles have not yet been finalised.

Sudirman Said noted that the three themes and the management structure are not yet final, as the discussions currently represent core ideas. He aims to conclude these discussions within the next two weeks.

Previously, the University of Indonesia (UI) abruptly prohibited the ‘Republic Conference: A Path to Reorganising the Republic’ activity, which was originally planned to be held at the UI Salemba Campus, Central Jakarta, on Sunday, 28 June 2026. UI stated that the activity did not meet administrative procedures.

Despite the committee having submitted activity permit letters well in advance, and UI providing a letter of assignment for the use of campus facilities on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, the committee received a notice of permit rejection from UI on the night of Saturday, 27 June 2026.

The Director of Public Relations, Media, Government, and International Affairs at UI, Erwin Agustian Panigoro, stated that they are currently preparing a response.
