Former Chairman of the Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Student Executive Body (BEM) Tiyo Ardianto has responded to being reported to the police by several parties. The student activist, who has been vocal in criticising the policies of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, was reported to the police by three individuals during June 2026 on charges of insulting President Prabowo Subianto.

Regarding the reports, Tiyo said he personally views this momentum as a good opportunity for those wishing to demonstrate their loyalty to President Prabowo. He suggested this has been well utilised by those who reported him.

The first to report Tiyo to the police was advocate Muhammad Firdaus Oiwobo to the South Tangerang Police. The second was legal practitioner Farhat Abbas, who reported him to the National Police Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim Polri). The third came from Garda Prabowo, which also reported Tiyo to Bareskrim Polri.

The former UGM BEM Chairman for the 2025-2026 period instead expressed hope that those reporting him would soon receive appreciation from Prabowo. Tiyo said he hopes President Prabowo can give the best appreciation to those who are showing their loyalty.

Tiyo continued that he personally will remain focused on doing things he considers more substantive in the struggle. He will not dwell too much on the reports, though he will still comply with applicable legal procedures.

He stated he will certainly remain cooperative. If summoned by the police, he will attend. If asked for information, he will provide it. However, he made clear that the focus is on substantive and strategic matters, especially in carrying out the role of a critical citizen.

According to him, critical thinking during the administration of Prabowo and his deputy Gibran Rakabuming Raka requires strict oversight so it does not stray further off course. He remarked that Indonesia is a house where almost all parts of the structure are nearly collapsing and can only be saved by optimising the roles of all the nation’s children.

Tiyo admitted that so far there has been no summons from the police regarding the reports against him. He said there has been no call or notification as of yet.
