A lecturer at Universitas Budi Luhur (UBL) with the initials Y (48) has reported a student with the initials A (24) to Polda Metro Jaya over allegations of defamation. The student is also known to have reported the lecturer to Polda Metro Jaya regarding suspected sexual harassment. That report has been received and registered under number LP/B/2611/IV/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA dated 14 April 2026. “Yes, it’s true, the lecturer has filed a defamation report,” said the Head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Budi Hermanto, to reporters on Thursday (16/4). Budi explained that the two reports submitted by the lecturer and the student are currently being investigated further by investigators. On the other hand, Budi described the alleged harassment experienced by the student as occurring in 2022. In the report, the victim claimed to have been invited to date by the lecturer. “There was an invitation from the said lecturer to date, to have a relationship, along with stares and words that veered towards negative things, as well as touching certain parts of the female student,” Budi stated. Previously, in a post on the suspected victim’s Instagram account, student A claimed to be a victim of sexual harassment by the lecturer when she was 19 years old. She mentioned that there were two other victims with a similar pattern of events. The Rector of UBL, Agus Setyo Budi, stated that the university has suspended the lecturer involved in the report of alleged sexual harassment against the student with initials A. That decision is outlined in the Rector’s Decree Number: K/UBL/REK/000/006/02/26 regarding the Release from Duties in the Field of Tri Dharma of Higher Education for the Lecturer in the Even Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year, effective from 27 February 2026. “Universitas Budi Luhur has taken firm and structured steps by suspending (the reported lecturer),” said Agus, quoted from the official Universitas Budi Luhur website on Tuesday (7/4). Agus said the decision was taken to allow for a thorough investigation into the report of alleged sexual harassment. “Aimed at opening opportunities for in-depth investigation and the collection of additional evidence to ensure the investigation process runs objectively, independently, and free from interference,” he stated.
