The controversy surrounding a video suspected to be based on artificial intelligence (AI) that implicates Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla continues to unfold. Digital forensics expert Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar has spoken out, stating that he lacks the authority to explain the content of the widely circulated video. This was his response when questioned about the report filed against him by JK. “Since I have confirmed that originality is the primary factor in digital forensics, I am not responsible for clarifying its content (from the video),” said Rismon, as quoted on Thursday, 16 April 2026. He also denied any involvement in producing the video that drags his name into the matter. Rismon emphasised that he has never produced or conveyed the content as alleged in the video. “Clearly, I am not involved in anything; I did not create, produce, let alone say what is in it. Therefore, immediately arrest the person who produced it,” he said. Rismon even claimed that he has never communicated with JK, much less discussed sensitive issues such as the controversy over the diploma of Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). “Goodness, who am I to communicate with Mr JK. Mr JK is a father of the nation, I am just an ordinary citizen in all discussions; I have never mentioned any political elites or national elites,” he stated. On the other hand, Rismon’s legal representative, Jahmada Girsang, stated that his client is actually in a disadvantaged position. He assessed that if the video is indeed an AI fabrication, then both Rismon and other parties mentioned in it are equally victims. “Because my client’s name has been mentioned possibly millions of times in the media, stating that he said that. Honestly, it did not happen. So now, my client’s position is disadvantaged,” said Jahmada. Previously reported, Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla, or JK as he is popularly known, visited the Bareskrim Polri building in Jakarta to report the case of alleged defamation and the dissemination of hoax news. Based on observations, JK arrived at the Bareskrim Polri building in Jakarta on Wednesday at 11:00 WIB. JK, wearing a light blue shirt, was accompanied by his legal representative, Abdul Haji Talaohu.
