The spokesperson for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Budi Prasetyo, was interrogated regarding a report filed by Faizal Assegaf concerning alleged defamation at the Metro Jaya Regional Police, on Tuesday (29/9).

Budi was questioned in his capacity as a witness for the reported party starting from 10:3/ WIB, a process that lasted approximately 7.5 hours. Following the examination, Budi stated that he answered 50 questions presented by the Metro Jaya Police investigation team to provide clarification regarding the alleged defamation report.

Budi underwent the clarification process from Tuesday morning until near sunset. “There were approximately 50 questions presented by the investigators. The situation and conditions were very conducive, so the request for information proceeded smoothly from morning until afternoon,” Budi told journalists at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (29/9).

He explained that his appearance was a form of compliance with applicable legal procedures, as well as a demonstration of the KPK’s commitment to maintaining transparency in law enforcement. “Our presence here is a form of compliance with the ongoing legal process and proof that the law enforcement process carried out by the KPK adheres to the principles,” he said.

Regarding the identity of the reporter or the specific details of the case, Budi declined to elaborate further. He emphasised that the identity of the reporter is excluded information and falls under the authority of the investigators.

Budi also denied that there had been any communication or mediation attempts with the reporter before the examination took place. He ensured that the entire examination process was conducted independently and professionally. “There was none (mediation). We must maintain independence, professionalism, and nothing personal. What we convey is purely based on facts and truth,” he said.

This examination was a rescheduling of a previous summons that had been adjusted to accommodate the work schedules of both parties.

During the session, Budi also expressed his appreciation to the Metro Jaya Police ranks for handling the case in a manner he deemed professional, objective, and precise.

Previously, Budi Prasetyo was reported to the Metro Jaya Police by political critic Faizal Assegaf, who felt slandered by him. The report regarding alleged defamation was filed on Tuesday (14/4) and is registered under number LP/B/2592/IV/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA.

Faizal reported Budi regarding statements made concerning Budi’s examination of the President Director of PT Sinkos Multimedia Mandiri by KPK investigators in a case involving importations at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Ministry of Finance.

KPK investigators were known to have examined Faizal as a witness to deepen the investigation into the alleged receipt of goods and facilities from suspect Rizal (RZ), the Director of Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (P2 DJBC) for the period of 2024 to January 2026.

During that examination, Faisal claimed he was interrogated with five questions, two of which related to personal assistance from an individual named Rizal to several activists in the form of electronic devices such as computers, WiFi video, and body encoders.

However, according to Faizal, following that examination, Budi distorted his statements as if he were involved in the corruption case.
