Report: US intelligence facilities in Middle East severely damaged

Iranian strikes have reportedly caused unprecedented damage to United States (US) intelligence facilities and surveillance equipment in the Middle East, NBC News reported, citing multiple sources.

According to the report, the level of damage to the intelligence facilities is more severe than anything previously experienced by US intelligence agencies.

NBC News reported that the cost of restoring the facilities and equipment is estimated to reach billions of US dollars.

On 28 February, the US and Israel began launching strikes against a number of targets in Iran, which Iran subsequently answered with strikes against several targets.

In mid-June, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at halting hostilities, but shortly afterwards the two sides resumed exchanging strikes.

The conflict remains unresolved, although there is currently no active fighting.

However, the US has chosen to increase economic pressure on Iran as part of efforts to end the conflict by creating financial pressure on Tehran.
