Report: Israel Recruited UAE Presidential Adviser

One of the most influential advisors to United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Mohammed bin Zayed (MBZ) has reportedly been actively cooperating with Israeli intelligence agencies since 2015. This was detailed in a report released by the Iranian news agency, Tasnim, citing trusted security sources.

According to these security sources, the presidential advisor first drew the attention of Israeli security agencies in 2007 due to his political stances. Israel’s efforts to approach and utilise him subsequently entered a new phase in 2015.

The source added that the advisor’s potential strategic value to Tel Aviv was first identified by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs through a special security unit known as ‘Mamad’. This Mamad unit is said to have played a key role in identifying, building relationships with, and influencing the political views of the advisor.

Subsequently, Israel’s foreign intelligence agency, Mossad, reportedly took over the advisor’s file in 2018. Since then, Mossad has maintained full control over direct communication with the advisor.

UAE-Israel military ties continue to strengthen

This disclosure emerges amidst security cooperation between the UAE and Israel, which has now reached an unprecedented level of openness.

In early May, the Financial Times reported that the Israeli regime had transferred advanced weaponry systems to the UAE during the US-Israel conflict against Iran. These weapons include the latest version of the ‘Iron Beam’ laser defence system and a drone detection platform known as ‘Spectro’. The deployment of this military technology also involves dozens of Israeli military personnel operating the systems directly within UAE territory.

At the end of the same month, the news channel i24NEWS, citing American sources, reported that both parties are working towards establishing a joint fund to finance and develop weaponry systems, including air defence platforms and anti-drone technologies.
