Repeat Offender Caught Stealing Six Bangkok Chickens from Bogor Islamic Boarding School
A man with the initials NP (46) was caught by residents after stealing Bangkok chickens from an Islamic boarding school in Parung District, Bogor, West Java. The perpetrator managed to steal six chickens.
‘The perpetrator’s actions were discovered when the victim, who was waking the students to perform the tahajud prayer, heard suspicious noises coming from the direction of the chicken coop,’ said Parung Police Chief Commissioner Maman Firmansyah on Saturday (29/8/2026).
The incident occurred on Saturday (22/8). The victim and a witness then checked the chicken coop after hearing the suspicious noises.
‘The perpetrator resisted and attempted to flee, but was successfully detained by the victim and residents before being handed over to police officers,’ he said.
Police also seized a number of items of evidence from the perpetrator. These included six Bangkok chickens, one sickle, and one block of wood.
‘The six chickens are estimated to be worth around Rp 1.5 million,’ he added.
It is known that the perpetrator had previous dealings with the law in 2016-2017. Police have now named the perpetrator as a suspect.
‘The suspect is currently undergoing legal proceedings and is charged under Article 477 paragraph 1C of the Criminal Code concerning livestock theft, which carries a maximum prison sentence of seven years or a maximum fine of category V,’ he concluded.
