Repairs to Boarding Gate 7 Roof at Terminal 3 Soekarno-Hatta Targeted for Completion Tomorrow
JAKARTA - Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds triggered a roof leak at Boarding Lounge Gate 7, Terminal 3, Soekarno-Hatta Airport, on Monday (6/4/2026). The incident occurred amid extreme weather affecting the airport area.
PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia or InJourney Airports stated that repairs were initiated immediately following the event. The completion target has been accelerated and is estimated to be finished on 8 April 2026.
“The completion of the work will be expedited, and we assure that the repair of the affected roof will be finished around 8 April 2026,” said Corporate Secretary Group Head of InJourney Airports, Arie Ahsanurrohim, in an official statement on Tuesday (6/4/2026).
“On behalf of the management of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia / InJourney Airports, we extend our apologies to the public, airport users, aircraft passengers, and business partners for the inconvenience, particularly regarding the disruption to the roof at Boarding Lounge Gate 7, Terminal 3,” Arie added.
He explained that the leak resulted from rainwater volume exceeding the drainage pipe capacity. The weather conditions at the time were also classified as extreme.
BMKG recorded a Wind Shear Warning from 13:47 to 13:50 WIB across all runways with wind speeds up to 30 knots. BMKG also issued an Aerodrome Warning for thunderstorms with wind speeds of 17 to 30 knots.
“Repairs are being carried out in accordance with procedures for handling disruptions to terminal infrastructure. The location has been sterilised to ensure safety, and services remain maintained, particularly at Boarding Gate 7, Terminal 3,” Arie emphasised.
Previously, a video of the roof leak in the boarding lounge area circulated on social media. Rainwater was seen falling heavily, soaking the waiting area, including nearby electronic devices.
