Repaired village road

Repaired village road

From Pikiran Rakyat

I was not personally informed about the impending midday visit
of the Regent of Bandung, U. Hatta Djatipermana, to the villages
in our district. When he set foot in our village -- Cijagra
district Paseh, Bandung -- I was touched because his visit filled
me with great pride.

The regent, who was overjoyed upon seeing the villagers who
had lined up along the road, greeted almost everyone in a
familiar way. Being simple people, this pleased them immensely.
This modest act established a tie between the regent and the
people of Cijagra. As a Cijagra villager, I would like to extend
my profound gratitude for the trouble the regent took in visiting
our humble village.

I did not expect that his visit would be of ultimate benefit
to us. His footprints, implanted in the soil, were like a
blessing to the villagers of Cijagra. Three weeks after his
visit, the Cijagra road -- which plays a vital, essential role in
the region's infrastructure -- being quite damaged before,
suddenly underwent repairs and asphalt paving.

This event gladdened the hearts of the Cijagra villagers. In
the not-too-distant future, we will enjoy having a beautiful
road. The gaping potholes all along the road, which have haunted
us for some time, are now filled up with coral and asphalt. Our
lamentations about the old road are now a thing of the past. We,
supporters of the New Order, will be better off from now on.
