The Jakarta Provincial Government has swiftly addressed a sinkhole on Lenteng Agung Road in South Jakarta by temporarily closing the southern-bound section towards Depok from 2:00 PM on Monday, 1 June 2026, until 5:00 AM on Tuesday, 2 June.

As part of public awareness efforts, the Jakarta Transportation Department (Dishub) has installed seven information banners at strategic locations—five along the corridor towards Depok and two in the Lenteng Agung area—to alert road users of the temporary closure.

Jakarta Transportation Department Head Budi Awaluddin, who inspected the site on Monday, apologised to the public for traffic disruptions during the repair process. “We apologise for the temporary closure of the southern-bound Lenteng Agung Road towards Depok from today, Monday 1 June 2026 at 2:00 PM until Tuesday 2 June 2026 at 5:00 AM. The closure supports underground channel repairs by the Water Resources Department,” he said.

Budi added that Dishub has deployed officers at key points to assist the public and ensure smooth traffic flow during works. Officers are stationed at the Tapal Kuda area and Pancasila University roundabout to guide drivers to prepared alternative routes. “We have officers on-site to direct citizens to alternative paths. We also urge the public to follow on-the-ground instructions for everyone’s safety,” he added.

During the Water Resources Department’s underground channel repairs, traffic will be diverted as follows: traffic from Pasar Minggu heading towards Depok will be diverted via Lenteng Agung Road, making a U-turn at the JPL 23 railway crossing or Pancasila University roundabout, then proceed to Moch. Kahfi II Road, Tanah Baru Road, and so on. Alternatively, vehicles can U-turn at the Tapal Kuda roundabout in front of the Institute of Social and Political Sciences (IISIP) Jakarta, then pass through Lenteng Agung Road, TB Simatupang Road, Kebagusan Road or Cilandak KKO Road, before reaching Moh. Kahfi I Road and beyond. Road users may also take TB Simatupang Road, Bogor Road, UI Access Road, and so on.

Heavy vehicles from Tanjung Barat heading towards Depok will be directed via Jagorawi Toll Road or Desari Toll Road. Alternatively, via TB Simatupang Road, Bogor Road, UI Access Road, and so on.

The Jakarta Provincial Government will continue coordinating with relevant agencies to expedite repairs and minimise impacts on public mobility. Residents are advised to plan travel times, use available alternative routes, and prioritise safety when passing near the worksite.
