Renovations Completed at SDN Gunungbatu Kebonpedes After Learning Was Disrupted
Gunung Prisma has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the quality of education. This commitment from the national business group, which operates in the iron and steel trading sector, has been realised through the renovation of the SDN Gunungbatu Kebonpedes building. This program is a collaboration between Gunung Prisma and PT Selaras Prima Angkasa.
“This is one form of our concern. We were concerned to see the condition of the school building which was damaged and not suitable for use,” said President Director of Gunung Prisma Group, Liwa Supriyanti, during the inauguration and formal handover of the school building renovation results in Kampung Gunungbatu, Kebonpedes Village, Sukabumi, West Java, Wednesday (25/2/2026).
Also present were representatives from the company’s management, the Head of SDN Gunungbatu and his teaching staff, representatives from the local government, community leaders, and representatives from the Sehati social organisation. On this occasion, Gunung Prisma also handed over school supplies to students.
Liwa added that the SDN Gunungbatu building is important for the learning process of students. Previously, the condition of the classrooms had suffered quite severe structural damage and had the potential to endanger safety, so teaching and learning activities had to be temporarily moved to the school’s mosque.
“Our hope is that, after this repair, teaching and learning activities can take place safely and comfortably. Students can return to learning in the classroom without worry,” he said.
The renovation of the SDN Gunungbatu Kebonpedes building is not the only corporate social responsibility activity of Gunung Prisma. Previously, the company was active in showing concern for the community in various sectors, such as education, health, social and economic sectors.
These include the provision of 300 sets of hazmat suits to the Kopo Health Center, Serang Regency, the provision of steel materials for the construction of a bridge in Nangela Village, Tegalbuleud, Sukabumi, and various donations for the community in Bantargebang. “As an economic actor, we believe that companies must share and benefit the communities in need,” said Liwa.
Representative of the management of PT Selaras Prima Angkasa, Jordan Suharto, said that this collaboration was a form of synergy between the business world in supporting the advancement of education in the region. “We believe that quality education is an important foundation for the future of the younger generation. Through this collaboration, we hope to provide real benefits for students, teachers and the surrounding community,” said Jordan.
On the other hand, the school expressed its appreciation for the assistance. The renovation of the school building is considered to be very helpful in creating a safe and decent learning environment for students.
“Thank God, there is help from God through CSR. Thank you to the donors who have helped, including Gunung Prisma and Sehati,” said the Head of SDN Gunungbatu, Ami Kusmaeni.
According to Ami, before the renovation, teaching and learning activities were indeed disrupted. Especially for students in grades 4, 5 and 6 whose classrooms were damaged. Teaching and learning activities had to be carried out alternately, waiting for an empty classroom. If another class was in use, the learning was moved to the library, mosque or outdoors. “It was indeed disruptive. Even if it was done outdoors, such as in the corridor, students often got wet when it rained,” said Ami. (H-2)
The event was symbolically held at SDN Pasir Angin 04, in Megamendung District (Puncak), Bogor Regency, West Java, Tuesday (2/7).
