Renovation of Uninhabitable Houses in Menteng Tenggulun to be Completed on 15 June
Minister for Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait stated that the programme to renovate uninhabitable houses (RTLH) in the Menteng Tenggulun area will be completed on 15 June 2026. “Everything will be finished on 15 June,” said the Gerindra Party politician during his inspection of the Menteng Tenggulun project in Central Jakarta on Friday (24/04/2026). He noted that the condition of the area has undergone significant changes compared to three months ago. The 49 houses that have not yet been addressed are scheduled to begin work on 30 April 2026. This area improvement programme is named Kampung Gotong Royong. According to Maruarar, the concept reflects collaborative financing and management. “We name it Kampung Gotong Royong. Why? Because the financing is collaborative, and the management is also collaborative,” he said. “This is a settlement, managed as a whole, without leaving anyone out. If management requires costs, people, rules, and agreements, please involve the residents in discussions,” stated Maruarar. In addition to physical construction, the government is also emphasising human resource empowerment, including mentoring for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM). He explained that involvement from ladies bankers from 10 banks is being utilised to mentor 35 UMKM in the area. “So they must be mentored by those bankers,” said Maruarar. The Kampung Gotong Royong programme in Menteng Tenggulun is described as a pilot project. If it runs well, the concept will be applied in several major cities in Indonesia. “After this goes well and runs smoothly, we will implement it in several more cities in Indonesia,” said Maruarar. This programme is carried out without using the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN), but through collaboration among various parties. The collaboration involves the Indonesian National Armed Forces Navy (TNI AL), the Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI), the ladies bankers, Boy Thohir, Lawrence Barki, Shinta Sirait, National Madani Capital (PNM), PT Astra International Tbk, and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
