Renovation of former Buleleng Port to commence shortly
The Buleleng District Government (Pemkab Buleleng) has confirmed that the renovation of the former Buleleng Port area will commence shortly. The groundbreaking for the project is planned to take place in the near future once various preparatory measures are completed.
Buleleng Regent I Nyoman Sutjidra stated that the government is currently making final technical preparations before the groundbreaking ceremony. Nevertheless, he assured that the renovation process of the area will begin this year.
“For Buleleng Port, we are waiting for the date to be finalised. There will definitely be a groundbreaking in the near future as there are preparations and other matters to settle. But we are hoping it will be completed this year,” said Sutjidra on Tuesday (10 March 2026).
Previously, the Buleleng District Government had already conducted groundbreaking ceremonies for two other strategic area development projects: the Zero Point area of Singaraja City and the Lovina tourism area.
According to Sutjidra, work on both projects is already underway. In fact, the Zero Point area renovation project is being accelerated to meet the established timeline.
“Lovina was done previously and work has already begun. The Zero Point area can also be observed there, with work happening day and night to meet the deadline,” he explained.
He acknowledged that project implementation faces time constraints. This is because extended holidays such as Nyepi and Idulfitri are approaching, which could potentially disrupt the construction process.
Nevertheless, Sutjidra assured that project progress so far has been proceeding reasonably well according to the established plan.
“If we do not keep pushing, the contractor could fail to meet deadlines due to the tight schedule. Especially with Idulfitri and Nyepi approaching, which could disrupt the construction work. But we are hoping it proceeds smoothly and the progress is visible to us all,” he said.
He added that all project work is also being closely monitored by a supervisory team and consultants to ensure it remains on schedule.
“Progress is good and in line with what has been planned by the supervisory team. There is also a supervisory consultant,” Sutjidra concluded.
