Renovation of Collapsed SDN in Kebayoran Lama Scheduled for Next Year
The building of SD Negeri Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 in South Jakarta has been in ruins since November 2024. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is targeting an acceleration of the school’s renovation, with serious planning stages set to begin next year.
The Head of the Education Sub-Department for Region I South Jakarta, Santoso, explained that the school repair plan has now entered the budget planning stage.
“What is clear is that the Provincial Government is trying to accelerate the handling process. In terms of the budget, it has actually entered the planning stage, included in the 2025 Detailed Engineering Design (DED),” Santoso told reporters on Tuesday (21/7/2026).
Although planning was carried out in 2025, procedurally the physical construction is proposed for 2027. However, his party is striving for realisation to occur earlier than that schedule.
“Hopefully it can be faster, so that realisation can happen quickly,” he said.
“The budgeting system does have a mechanism that must be followed. The budgeting pattern cannot be instant; it is not like using personal money which can be used immediately. Planning first, then realisation,” Santoso explained.
The collapsed school building is now cordoned off with a boundary line. Santoso said this was done for safety reasons, to prevent residents, teachers, or students from daring to enter the dangerous area.
He also confirmed that the building debris scattered inside the classrooms will be cleaned up soon.
“In the near future, we will clean it up. We will clean it, we will tidy it up,” Santoso promised.
“The warning line is so that no one plays there, just to be careful. Yesterday someone went in there, so this is to prevent them from going inside,” he explained.
Santoso also mentioned plans regarding the merger of SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 and the adjacent SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 11. “Actually, SDN 09 and SDN 11 are going to be merged into one. Then the construction will be on the SDN 09 site, while the SDN 11 land will be used for access. That is the plan,” said Santoso.
Santoso reiterated that the rehabilitation of SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 is on the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s priority list. “What is clear is that the Provincial Government will immediately resolve this issue,” he concluded.
It was previously reported that the building of SD Negeri Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 in South Jakarta collapsed two years ago. Students have been forced to take lessons at another school because their own school building has not been repaired.
One parent of a fifth-grade student, Evi (33), recounted that the students are now studying at SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 11, which is located next to her child’s collapsed school.
“For the teaching and learning activities, our children are sharing facilities. They are sharing at SDN Kebayoran Lama 11 Selatan, which happens to be right next door. So we are sharing there,” Evi told reporters on Tuesday (21/7).
Due to this situation, students of SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09, who originally attended morning classes, now have to attend school in the afternoon. This is because they must wait for the teaching and learning activities at SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 11 to finish first.
The collapse of the school occurred during the Pilkada holiday on 27 November 2024. As a result, five rooms consisting of four classrooms and one school health unit room caved in.
“Initially, the incident happened during the Pilkada holiday. So no one knew about it, not even the school guard knew,” Evi revealed.
