Renewable Energy Projects: Saudi Investors Require Certainty Regarding Permits and Land
The Indonesian government’s commitment to driving the energy transition and increasing renewable energy (EBT) capacity has been welcomed by ACWA Power Indonesia, a leading global developer of renewable energy and clean water solutions.
Tim Anderson, Chief Executive Officer of ACWA Power Indonesia, stated that the Saudi Arabian-based company has been operating in Indonesia for seven years. Currently, several projects are under construction, including both floating and ground-mounted solar PV, as well as desalination and green hydrogen projects.
In the development of renewable energy in Indonesia, ACWA Power Indonesia is encouraging the role of the ‘Bottleneck Task Force’ to address various investment hurdles, including licensing issues within the renewable energy sector. It is hoped that government support can accelerate the target of achieving 100 Gigawatts of solar power and increase Indonesia’s renewable energy mix.
Drawing from ACWA Power’s experience across 15 countries, the company noted that issues related to land acquisition and regulatory certainty are critical factors in accelerating renewable energy projects.
