Rempang Now Stable, Transmigration Minister Optimistic Investment Climate Growing Stronger
Batam, Beritasatu.com – Transmigration Minister (Mentrans) Muhamad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara said the situation in the Rempang transmigration zone has become increasingly stable over the past year. The more peaceful conditions are seen as an important foundation for creating a stable investment climate in Batam.
The statement was made after attending the Chinese New Year 2577 celebrations at Swiss-Belhotel Harbour Bay, Batam, on Monday (16/2/2026). He affirmed that the Ministry of Transmigration continues to coordinate with the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, BP Batam, and the Batam City Government in developing the Rempang area.
“We express our gratitude for the support from the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development. We also report to him regularly, and we work together to support BP Batam and the Batam City Government,” he said.
According to Iftitah, the dynamics that previously occurred in Rempang are now relatively more under control. The more peaceful situation serves as capital for maintaining investor confidence in Batam.
He emphasised that regional stability is crucial so that investment development can proceed in tandem with the interests of the local community.
In addition to maintaining stability, the government has also channelled concrete support to residents affected by the Rempang development. This includes the handover of 16 fishing vessels as a means of supporting the community’s economy.
“In principle, we also report that 16 fishing vessels have been provided to the community,” he said.
Iftitah expressed hope that such assistance would not merely be part of the relocation process, but would genuinely improve residents’ welfare through sustainable sources of income.
“Our hope is that they do not simply move to a new place, but also have jobs that continue to generate income for their welfare,” he concluded.
