Remission under review; Indra Kenz could be returned to prison
Bandung (ANTARA) - The West Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas) is evaluating the granting of long-term illness remission to the Binomo case convict, Indra Kesuma, also known as Indra Kenz, who is currently serving parole.
The Head of Service and Development at the West Java Regional Office of Ditjenpas, Ishadi Maja Praypendro, stated in Bandung on Wednesday that the evaluation is being conducted to ensure that the granting of the remission complies with standard operating procedures (SOP).
“Regarding Indra Kenz, who entered prison in 2022 with a 10-year sentence, he received remission rights like any other inmate. The focus of the examination is directed towards the long-term illness remission to ensure its compliance with the SOP,” said Ishadi.
According to him, if the results of the investigation find that the remission was granted in violation of the SOP, the remission can be cancelled and Indra Kenz may be returned to a correctional institution.
“The investigation and review process is expected to be completed within a maximum of two weeks without reducing the remaining period of the primary prison sentence,” he added.
Indra Kenz began serving his parole on 24 September 2026, after previously serving his sentence at the Class IIA Cibinong Prison in Bogor Regency. During his parole, Indra is required to report to the Bogor Correctional Centre (Bapas) once a month and must undergo guidance and supervision until the end of his parole period.
Indra was previously sentenced to 10 years in prison and a fine of Rp5 billion, with a subsidiary sentence of 10 months of imprisonment, for spreading false information and money laundering related to Binomo. He was found guilty of violating Article 45A paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 28 paragraph (1) of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions, as well as Article 3 of Law Number 8 of 2010 concerning the Prevention and Eradication of Money Laundering.
Before serving his sentence at Cibinong Prison, Indra was detained at the Class I Salemba State Detention Centre in Central Jakarta.
