Remembering Try Sutrisno, Indonesia's 6th Vice President and Devoted Military Servant
Jakarta – Indonesia’s 6th Vice President Try Sutrisno has passed away at the age of 90 on Monday morning, 2 March 2026.
The late Try Sutrisno’s body was buried at the Heroes’ Cemetery (Taman Makam Pahlawan) Kalibata in Jakarta on the same day.
During his lifetime, Try Sutrisno made great contributions and dedicated himself to serving the nation and state.
According to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat, Try Sutrisno’s passing represents a significant loss for Indonesia, as the late statesman was one of the nation’s finest sons.
As is well known, Try Sutrisno held several strategic positions during his lifetime, including Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces (ABRI) from 1988 to 1993 and Vice President for the 1993-1998 period.
Throughout his life, the state awarded Try Sutrisno various honours in recognition of his service and dedication.
