Remembering Try Sutrisno, Gibran: His Service is an Important Chapter in the Nation's History
Jakarta (ANTARA) — Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has paid tribute to the late sixth Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Try Sutrisno, describing him as a figure whose service has become an important part of Indonesia’s national history.
“His exemplary conduct, integrity, and service will always remain an important part of the history of the Indonesian nation,” Gibran said in a post on his official Instagram account (@gibran_rakabuming) on Monday.
The Vice President stated that the Indonesian nation has lost a leader who dedicated his life to the country, from his career as a soldier to his role as a statesman.
On this occasion, Gibran also expressed his deepest condolences on the passing of Try Sutrisno following his treatment at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto hospital in Jakarta.
The Vice President prayed that all the charitable works and service of the deceased would be accepted, his faults forgiven, and the family left behind granted patience.
“May Allah the Almighty accept all his charitable works and service to the nation and country, forgive all his transgressions, and grant patience to the family left behind, amen,” said Gibran.
Gibran had previously visited Try Sutrisno directly on 13 August 2025. During that visit, Gibran conveyed an invitation to the 80th Indonesian Independence Day commemoration to Try Sutrisno, which was received with great attention.
In an atmosphere of warm and respectful meeting, the Vice President was greeted directly by Try Sutrisno, Ibu Tuti Try Sutrisno, and the sixth Vice President’s eldest daughter Nora Tristyana Try Sutrisno.
The discussion that ensued was dynamic, covering leadership experience, national outlook, and strategic perspectives on maintaining national unity amid global dynamics.
On this occasion, Try Sutrisno also imparted advice regarding the importance of developing the education and healthcare sectors as the foundation for national progress.
