Remembering Troy Harrold Yohanes Pantouw, IKN Spokesperson Who Served Country and God
The name Troy Harrold Yohanes Pantouw has long been synonymous with the face of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority. As Spokesperson and Special Staff for Public Communications, he was a resilient figure standing on the front lines, voicing the pulse of the nation’s megaproject to the public. Yet, behind the clamour of the public relations stage and the bustle of bureaucracy, there was a quiet side to the late official that rarely received the spotlight: his humility before the Creator. For Troy, a brilliant career that spanned widely across his life was not merely the result of personal calculation. There was a firm spiritual foundation he always held onto tightly. “I involve God in every job. That is the reason why I always get good work, especially at IKN,” Troy said in a recent conversation. This expression was clearly reflected in his daily actions in Nusantara. Amid the onslaught of energy-draining official duties, Troy chose to take on the role of an elder. He regularly led Sunday services for workers at the IKN Flats and Construction Worker Housing (HPK). There, he was present not as an official, but as a fellow life traveller sharing encouragement. From those simple pulpits, Troy often entrusted a profound message that God is the ultimate destination of the human journey. He constantly reminded the congregation that not a single human deed escapes His observation, and His love is always open to forgive anyone who comes with a sincere heart. Human plans may often appear perfect, but the line of destiny lies in the hands of the Divine. On Sunday (26/7/2026), Troy was scheduled to stand at the pulpit of the Bethany Nusantara FOG Ringroad Church in Balikpapan to deliver the sermon in two Grand Worship sessions. This sincere intention to serve again turned out to be his final dream. On Saturday (25/7/2026) afternoon, the elder’s journey stopped at Hermina IKN Hospital. Troy breathed his last at the age of 58, called home to eternal peace before he could complete the preaching schedule he had prepared. Although the Sunday pulpit in Balikpapan is now silent without his presence, Troy has completed his life’s task perfectly, leaving a legacy of example about the harmony between serving the state and steadfast faith. The man born in Surabaya on 8 May 1968 was an alumnus of Psychology at Untag Surabaya and held a Master’s degree from the University of Central England, UK. Troy was known as a seasoned communications practitioner with decades of experience. Starting his career from the bottom as a radio announcer in 1988 and an Executive Producer at SCTV (1990–1992), he was later entrusted to lead PR divisions at large corporations such as Danone AQUA and Standard Chartered Bank, before becoming the spearhead of communications for the Covid-19 Task Force (2020–2022) and finally serving for IKN since 2023.
