The Head of the Jakarta Transportation Department, Syafrin Liputo, stated that the evaluation results show that the implementation of HBKB on Jalan HR Rasuna Said provides benefits to the community, especially as an alternative space for sports and public space in the middle of the city. However, several technical issues in the field still need to be resolved.
“HBKB on Jalan HR Rasuna Said adds an alternative space for sports and public space for the community. The results of air quality measurements around the location during the implementation of HBKB were also recorded as being better compared to working days,” said Syafrin in a statement on Saturday (May 16, 2026).
According to him, the presence of HBKB on Rasuna Said also helps reduce the density of visitors in the Sudirman-Thamrin area. Based on data from the Jakarta Transportation Department, the number of visitors to the provincial-level HBKB on the Jalan Jenderal Sudirman-MH Thamrin corridor decreased from 29,256 people on May 3, 2026, to 13,759 people on May 10, 2026, or a decrease of about 52.97 percent.
“This condition shows that HBKB on HR Rasuna Said can disperse the concentration of people in Sudirman-Thamrin so that community activities are more spread out,” said Syafrin.
However, the implementation of the Car-Free Day on May 10 still left several notes for evaluation. These include the lack of turning points on the east and west sides of the corridor, the lack of installation of Transjakarta lane dividers, and the continued presence of illegal parking in several locations.
In addition, the arrangement of MSMEs needs to be improved because the activities of traders have expanded to the middle of the road. Several road work projects on alternative routes also still cause congestion.
His party also noted that there are still differences in road height levels after the dismantling of the monorail pillars and the accumulation of community activities in the Plaza Festival area, causing runners and cyclists to use the Transjakarta bus lanes.
Syafrin ensured that all these obstacles will be followed up with a cross-agency HBKB working team. The DKI Provincial Government is also preparing a legal umbrella as the basis for implementing HBKB on Jalan HR Rasuna Said.
“Improvements to supporting facilities and the arrangement of community activities will be carried out so that the implementation of HBKB on Rasuna Said can be carried out more safely, comfortably, and orderly,” he explained.
HBKB on Jalan HR Rasuna Said is planned to resume in June 2026 every Sunday from 05.30-09.00 WIB. The DKI Provincial Government hopes that the presence of the new HBKB corridor can expand public access to public spaces for sports and interaction in the middle of the city.
