The work-from-home (WFH) policy every Friday for civil servants (ASN) is not to be interpreted as a holiday. The government emphasises that this policy is part of efforts to transform the work culture of ASN towards greater adaptability and efficiency.

“WFH every Friday is not a holiday. Rather, it is part of the transformation of ASN’s work culture to be more adaptive and efficient,” states a post on the official Instagram account @bakom.ri, as reported by detikFinance.

The explanation notes that WFH still requires ASN to carry out their duties fully, albeit from different locations. The government also ensures that ASN performance is strictly monitored with technological support to maintain accountability during working hours. In this regard, ASN must remain on standby by activating communication devices during working hours and must respond to calls or messages in less than or equal to five minutes.

“Monitoring uses geo-location technology. The whereabouts of ASN are tracked during working hours. The policy is evaluated for energy efficiency and performance,” the explanation continues.

Thus, the WFH policy every Friday in a week is claimed not to disrupt services to the public. Public services continue to operate, especially in strategic sectors that directly serve the needs of the community.
