Remember the Ade Sara Tragedy? A Love Story That Ended in Death, Similar to the YTR Case
Jakarta – The alleged abuse and confinement case involving YTR (29) by her boyfriend, Taufik Hidayat (30), has drawn significant public attention. The incident, which came to light in June 2026, has revived public memories of several shocking cases of violence within romantic relationships in Indonesia. In the latest case, YTR was found in a distressing condition after her family received a mysterious message stating that the victim was undergoing treatment at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung. When found, the victim had sustained severe injuries to her head, face, hands, and feet, along with deep psychological trauma. The case has reminded many of the tragic murder of Ade Sara Angelina Suroto in 2014, a case that became a national spotlight as it involved the victim’s former boyfriend and his new girlfriend. The Ade Sara case first came to light on the morning of 5 March 2014, when the body of a young woman was discovered on the side of the JORR Toll Road heading from Cakung towards Cikunir, Bekasi. The victim was identified as Ade Sara Angelina Suroto, a 19-year-old university student, through her electronic ID card and fingerprint matching by the police. When found, the victim’s condition was horrific; her face was swollen beyond recognition, and her body showed multiple bruises. Investigation later revealed that Ade Sara had allegedly been subjected to pressure and terror from her former boyfriend, Ahmad Imam Al Hafitd. According to the victim’s mother, Elisabeth Diana, Hafitd was deeply hurt after their relationship ended, especially after Ade Sara asked him to stop contacting her. This resentment allegedly festered into a grudge that ultimately led to the criminal act that took her life.
