Remains of Indonesian Citizen Murder Victim in Germany Repatriated to Indonesia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) has stated that the remains of Isaac Hansen Averino, an Indonesian citizen (WNI) murdered in his residence in Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, were repatriated to Indonesia on 28 March 2026.

“The remains of the late have been repatriated to Indonesia and arrived on 28 March 2026. The Directorate of WNI Protection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also facilitated the arrival process and handover of the remains to the family,” said Ministry spokesperson Vahd Nabyl Mulachela when contacted by Kompas.com on Monday (20/4/2026).

Isaac was reported to have died on 18 March 2026 due to violence perpetrated by a German citizen.

“From the initial handling of the case, the Consulate General in Frankfurt (KJRI Frankfurt) has coordinated intensively with local police and prosecutorial authorities to support the investigation process. KJRI Frankfurt also conveyed information and the news of bereavement to the family at the first opportunity,” he said.

Nabyl stated that the prosecution’s investigation process against the suspect is still ongoing.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs through KJRI Frankfurt will continue to ensure that the legal process runs fairly, transparently, and non-discriminatorily,” he added.

Based on statements from the family and relatives, the victim last communicated on Wednesday (18/03) night before the incident.

He had bid farewell to his girlfriend to cook in the shared kitchen at his residence.

However, after that, the victim no longer responded to messages, which relatives deemed unusual.

Concerns grew when the victim still did not give news the next morning, a routine habit he had maintained.

Efforts to contact the victim also yielded no results, until the family finally received information that the victim had passed away.
