Relocated to Jambu Dua, Bogor Market Street Vendors Complain of Few Customers
BOGOR, KOMPAS.com – The relocation of street vendors (PKL) from Bogor Market to Jambu Dua Market has yet to run optimally. As of Tuesday (31/3/2026), the majority of the provided stalls remain empty because the vendors have not fully occupied the new location.
Based on observations at Jambu Dua Market, the relocation area on the second floor has been fitted with banners welcoming the affected PKL. The names of the vendors are also listed on each stall.
However, most of those stalls are yet to be filled with merchandise. Only one vendor appears to be waiting with commodities such as chillies, onions, and tomatoes. At several points, merchandise is seen covered with tarps without supervision.
“Tomatoes, chillies, fresh stuff,” said one vendor on the ground floor of Jambu Dua Market, Bogor City.
One of the affected PKL from the relocation, Rendi (30), admitted to still experiencing few customers because not all vendors have moved to the new location.
He claimed not to know when all PKL from Bogor Market would occupy the relocation area.
Rendi, who moved just the night before, assessed that the new location is quite comfortable as it is protected from the heat. However, this condition has not yet been accompanied by adequate numbers of buyers.
“The place is nice, but it’s a shame about the sales. I’ve only sold to three, and they’re regulars,” said Rendi when met at Jambu Dua Market on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
“The place is comfortable. If it’s about the location, it’s comfortable here. But it’s not stable yet; the place is nice, but no one’s buying,” he continued.
According to Rendi, buyers at the new location are still dominated by old customers. Meanwhile, general buyers have not yet come in large numbers to the relocation area.
“Now if the vendors all move here and there are no buyers, it’s pitiful for the vendors; the government just moves them. They should promote it widely; that’s what they should do,” he said.
On the other hand, vendors who have been trading longer at Jambu Dua Market welcome the relocation positively.
Jun (23), a vegetable vendor on the ground floor, believes the transfer of PKL from Bogor Market has the potential to bring in new customers.
