Religious communities serve as social cohesion guardians: Minister
“In the context of national life, mutual cooperation is the main foundation. There is no progress without collaboration and no prosperity without togetherness,” he said when speaking to the media here on Monday.
Therefore, he invited all elements of the nation, including the government, legislature, religious leaders, and the public, to continue strengthening synergy in building the country.
He stated that future challenges will not become easier, as the changing times demand adaptability, innovation, and a firm commitment to the nation’s noble values.
“Religious communities have a major responsibility, not only internally but also in maintaining social harmony,” he said.
He added that tolerance is not merely a passive attitude of accepting differences, but an active commitment to respect, protect, and cooperate in diversity.
“I say that tolerance does not mean making different things the same, nor does it mean differentiating what is the same. Let differences remain differences and similarities remain similarities, but we live within diversity in beauty, as reflected in the celebration of the 5th National Easter Worship event,” he said.
According to him, tolerance is a strength and harmony that serve as social capital and unity as the key to the nation’s future.
Minister Umar stressed that there must be no room for intolerance, discrimination, or division in the nation.
