Religious Affairs Minister: WFH is a new, more adaptive and efficient way of working
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar emphasised that the work-from-home (WFH) policy, which begins to be implemented every Friday, is not merely a change in work location but part of building a more adaptive, efficient, and impactful work system.
“WFH is not just working from home, but a new way of working that is more adaptive and efficient, without reducing the quality of services,” said Minister Nasaruddin Umar in Jakarta on Friday.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs is implementing the WFH policy every Friday, starting today, 10 April 2026. This policy follows the implementation of the New Work Culture Transformation on 1 April 2026.
This step is a strategic effort to face global dynamics by encouraging more efficient, productive, and digitally-based work patterns.
“Wherever we are, services to the community must remain present, easily accessible, and run well. Let us utilise technology, strengthen coordination, and pay attention to those who need it most,” said the Minister.
The Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque also invited all ranks of the Ministry of Religious Affairs to make this momentum the beginning of building a new work rhythm that is wiser and more balanced.
“We are building a new rhythm. A wiser, more balanced, and meaningful way of working. From the Minister of Religious Affairs’ office, I invite all civil servants of the Ministry of Religious Affairs to jointly carry out this transformation. We start a new way,” he said.
In line with the Minister, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Kamaruddin Amin, emphasised that the essence of this policy is a work culture transformation that is more adaptive yet still controlled. The policy also serves as a strategic step to reduce the burden of energy and mobility costs.
For this reason, civil servants of the Ministry of Religious Affairs are asked to maintain their work rhythm and professionalism.
“It should be underlined that this WFH is not work from anywhere. That means employees are truly working from home with standby status,” said Kamaruddin Amin.
