Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Nasaruddin Umar has urged Muslims to make Eid al-Fitr 1447 H a momentum to strengthen empathy and social concern. According to him, the essence of Ramadan is not merely a ritual of abstaining from hunger and thirst, but a means to build character that is more sensitive to others.

‘Fasting is a process of honing social sensitivity. Behind the feelings of hunger and thirst lies a strong message about empathy for others and concern for those in need,’ he stated in his Eid al-Fitr message for 1 Syawal 1447 H in Jakarta on Friday (20/3).

Nasaruddin explained that the resounding echoes of takbir mark the end of Ramadan while symbolising spiritual victory, namely the ability to uphold Ramadan’s values for the next eleven months.

‘True victory is not merely returning to our routines, but succeeding in keeping the flame of piety alive,’ he said.

He also reminded that Eid al-Fitr is a momentum to sow goodness and attain blessings. Blessings, according to the Menag, only come to open hearts and to those who actively spread benefits to their surroundings.

Therefore, Nasaruddin urged Muslims not to let the spirit of Ramadan end with the arrival of Eid al-Fitr. The values of discipline, honesty, and concern trained during Ramadan must continue to be upheld and made a guide in everyday life.

‘Happy Eid al-Fitr 1 Syawal 1447 H. Taqabbalallahu minna wa minkum. Please forgive my physical and spiritual shortcomings. May Allah SWT bestow blessings, peace, and harmony upon the Indonesian nation,’ he concluded.
