Religious Affairs Minister Urges Citizens to Strengthen Unity and Maintain Order During Eid
JAKARTA - The Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag), Nasaruddin Umar, has urged the public to make the momentum of Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah in 2026 a means to strengthen the unity and solidarity of the ummah amid differences in the determination of 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah in society.
He stressed the importance of maintaining social stability to support the creation of a peaceful and prosperous Indonesia.
“We urge all Indonesian Muslims to always maintain calm, security, order, and togetherness during this year’s Eid period,” said Nasaruddin during a press conference at the isbat session on Thursday night (19/3/2026).
“Let us make Idul Fitri a momentum to strengthen the ummah, welcome Idul Silaturahmi, and maintain social stability as our contribution to building a peaceful and prosperous Indonesia,” he continued.
On that occasion, Nasaruddin also conveyed Eid al-Fitr greetings for 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah to all Muslims in the country.
“As the Minister of Religious Affairs and on behalf of the government, I extend Eid al-Fitr greetings for 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah. Please forgive me physically and spiritually,” he said.
He asked Muslims to respect one another, especially those who are still continuing their fasting worship for 30 days.
“To our brothers and sisters who may worship earlier, we ask that you remain tolerant towards your siblings who are still fasting until 30 days,” said Nasaruddin.
