Religious Affairs Minister Unable to Confirm Prabowo's Attendance at Istiqlal Mosque Eid Prayer

JAKARTA - Religious Affairs Minister (Menag) Nasaruddin Umar expressed hope that President Prabowo Subianto would attend the Eid al-Adha prayer at Istiqlal Mosque in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.

However, Nasaruddin could not confirm the President’s attendance as the head of state is scheduled to attend an important meeting in France.

If the President is unable to attend, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka will lead the national-level Eid al-Adha prayer at Istiqlal Mosque.

According to Nasaruddin, the President’s trip to France was sudden.

Nasaruddin stated that Istiqlal Mosque will hold the 1447 Hijriah national-level Eid al-Adha prayer starting at 7:00 AM WIB on Wednesday.

“The Eid al-Adha prayer is open to the public, provided they adhere to order, comfort, and applicable health protocols,” he said.

This year’s Eid al-Adha sermon theme is “Strengthening the Spirit of Sacrifice, Caring for the Environment and Humanity”.

The imam for the Eid al-Adha prayer at Istiqlal Mosque is H. Ahmad Anshoruddin Ibrahim, M.Ag.

For access, organisers have divided the congregation routes into two categories.

For pedestrians, entry points are through Al-Fattah Gate opposite Jakarta Cathedral, and As-Salam 1 and As-Salam 2 Gates opposite Juanda Bus Stop.

Organisers have set up seven parking points around Istiqlal Mosque to accommodate vehicles for Eid al-Adha worshippers.
