Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar attended the inauguration of the Balai Sarkiah building in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi, on Sunday, 15 February 2026. The Balai Sarkiah is a religious and educational facility established by the OSO (Oesman Sapta Odang) Foundation.

Head of the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Public Relations and Communications Bureau, Thobib Al Asyhar, said Nasaruddin attended at the invitation of OSO, the chairman of the board of trustees of the OSO Education Foundation. OSO, who is also chairman of the Hanura (People's Conscience Party), arranged his private jet to bring Nasaruddin to the inauguration venue.

"OSO took the initiative to prepare a private jet for the Minister so he could attend amid his busy schedule," Thobib Al Asyhar said in Jakarta on Monday, 16 February 2026, as quoted from the Ministry of Religious Affairs' official website.

Thobib stated that all transport for Nasaruddin's journey was arranged by the event organiser. "All transport for the journey was prepared by the organiser," he said.

Regarding the private jet arrangement, Tempo contacted OSO, but he had not yet responded to Tempo's messages.

The Balai Sarkiah building, located in Sabintang sub-district, is projected to become a new epicentre for religious and social activities in South Sulawesi. The building will serve as a centre for community empowerment.

According to Thobib, Nasaruddin continues to work serving the community even on public holidays. Nasaruddin, he said, hopes the building can contribute to religious education and economic empowerment of the faithful.

"The Minister conveyed that the government greatly appreciates the role of community leaders who independently build religious infrastructure. Balai Sarkiah is not merely a building, but a symbol of collaboration to strengthen the values of social concern within society," Thobib said, explaining the message delivered by the Minister in his inauguration address.

The inauguration of the Balai Sarkiah building was attended by OSO and his family, Takalar Regent Mohammad Firdaus Daeng Manye, and members of the South Sulawesi Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda). Approximately 200 local religious and community leaders who had been anticipating the building's inauguration were also present.

The ceremony began with the signing of an inscription plaque by the foundation's board of trustees chairwoman, Serviati Oesman. In addition to the physical inauguration, the event also marked the commencement of the facility's social function through the handover of a Baznas decree to the Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ) of the KN Foundation.
