Religious Affairs Minister Says Prabowo Has Issued Instructions for Nuzulul Quran to Be Held at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta

Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar met President Prabowo Subianto to discuss preparations for the Nuzulul Quran gathering marking the 17th of Ramadan, and confirmed that the event will be held at the Istana Negara in Jakarta. “I have just met with the President to discuss Nuzulul Quran preparations. So, Insyaallah the Nuzulul Quran that will be held in Jakarta, specifically at the Istana Negara,” Nasaruddin Umar said after meeting the President at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. Nasaruddin noted that there had been talk of alternative venues, including the Istiqlal Mosque and the Istana Garuda IKN, but the President indicated that the event he attends would be held at the Istana Negara, Jakarta. “We discussed technical matters as there are several options—whether at IKN, at Istiqlal, or at the Istana. The President gave instruction that we should proceed with the Istana Negara,” he said. Furthermore, Nasaruddin said he had obtained information about zakat payments by Prabowo and members of the Merah Putih Cabinet, noting that Prabowo and the cabinet would pay zakat to Baznas at the Istana Negara. “We also discussed zakat payments for the President and his officials, and we will schedule this at Istana Negara,” he added.
