Religious Affairs Minister Reports Private Jet Use to KPK
Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Nasaruddin Umar has finally reported his use of a private jet facility to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). With this report filed, the KPK stated that the minister is now free from the possibility of criminal prosecution.
Nasaruddin filed the report at the KPK’s ACLC Building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Monday (23/2/2026). He claimed that the use of the private jet was carried out in the interest of his duties as Religious Affairs Minister.
“I came here to report on the matter related to my trip carrying out duties in South Sulawesi, in Makassar, using a special aircraft,” Nasaruddin told reporters on Monday (23/2/2026).
Nasaruddin explained that he used the private jet because his journey to Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi took place on Sunday evening (15/2). The following morning, he was required to chair the isbat session to determine the start of Ramadan.
“Because at 11 pm there are no more flights there, and the next morning I had to return for the Isbat Session preparations,” said Nasaruddin.
Nasaruddin stated that the report was intended to set an example for his subordinates within the Ministry of Religious Affairs. He claimed the filing process went smoothly.
“It has gone smoothly, and that is my resolve. I want to set an example for our subordinates, our staff at all levels beneath us, all the way to the KPK level,” said Nasaruddin.
Meanwhile, KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo expressed appreciation for Nasaruddin’s exemplary stance on corruption eradication.
“As a state official, one must have a strong commitment to eradicating corruption, particularly with regard to prevention efforts, one of which is filing gratification reports from the outset,” said Budi.
Budi expressed hope that this step would serve as an example for all state officials in supporting corruption eradication. “The Minister also conveyed that this serves as a positive example, not only within the Ministry of Religious Affairs but across all ranks of state officials and civil servants throughout Indonesia,” said Budi.
Previously, on 15 February 2026, Nasaruddin was known to have received a private jet facility from Oesman Sapta Odang (OSO), the chairman of the Hanura Party. Nasaruddin received the facility when visiting Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi, to attend the inauguration of OSO’s Balai Sarkiah, citing time efficiency as the reason.
