Fasting is a process of honing social sensitivity. Behind the feelings of hunger and thirst lies a strong message about empathy for others and concern for those in need.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Nasaruddin Umar has invited Muslims to make Eid al-Fitr a momentum to strengthen empathy and social concern.

According to him, Ramadan is not merely a ritual of abstaining from food and drink, but also a means of building character that is more caring and empathetic.

“Fasting is a process of sharpening social sensitivity. Behind the feelings of hunger and thirst lies a strong message about empathy for others and concern for those who lack,” said Menag Nasaruddin Umar in a written statement in Jakarta on Sunday.

He explained that the resounding echoes of takbir mark the end of Ramadan, while also symbolising spiritual victory, namely the ability to uphold Ramadan’s values for the next eleven months.

“True victory is not merely returning to our routines, but successfully keeping the flame of piety alive,” said Menag Nasaruddin Umar.

He also reminded that Eid al-Fitr is a moment to sow goodness and attain blessings.

Blessings, according to Menag, only come to hearts that are open and to those who actively spread benefits to their surroundings.

Therefore, he invited Muslims not to let the Ramadan spirit end with the arrival of Eid al-Fitr.

He stated that the values of discipline, honesty, and concern trained during Ramadan must continue to be upheld and made a guide in daily life.

“Happy Eid al-Fitr 1 Syawal 1447 H. Taqabbalallahu minna wa minkum. Please forgive my physical and spiritual shortcomings. May Allah SWT bestow blessings, peace, and harmony upon the Indonesian nation,” said Menag Nasaruddin Umar.
