JAKARTA - Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar has emphasised that civil servants (ASN) within the Religious Affairs Ministry are prohibited from using official vehicles for personal Eid holiday travel purposes.

Nasaruddin stated that every civil servant is obligated to uphold values of integrity, professionalism and ethics in carrying out their duties, including in the use of state facilities.

“Civil servants must maintain integrity and professionalism, and use state facilities responsibly. Civil servants are prohibited from abusing their authority and official facilities for personal interests,” Nasaruddin said in a statement on Thursday (12 March 2026).

The Religious Affairs Minister explained that official vehicles constitute state facilities intended to support the execution of official duties.

“Some Religious Affairs Ministry civil servants also have assignments during the Eid period, for instance to oversee Traveller-Friendly Houses of Worship. Whilst carrying out their duties, they may use available facilities,” he added.

This prohibition is in line with provisions in Government Regulation Number 94 of 2021 concerning Civil Service Discipline, which prohibits civil servants from abusing their authority and official facilities for personal interests.

Furthermore, during the Eid al-Fitr celebration, which should reinforce values of honesty, responsibility and discipline, civil servants are expected to set an example in maintaining ethical standards in the use of state facilities.
