Jakarta, VIVA – Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar visited the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Monday, 23 February 2026.

He came to report an alleged gratification in the form of travel facilities using a private jet belonging to Hanura Party Chairman Oesman Sapta Odang (OSO).

“This time I have come again to report regarding my recent trip carrying out duties in South Sulawesi, in Makassar, using a special aircraft,” Nasaruddin told reporters, as quoted by ANTARA.

Nasaruddin explained that he decided to report the alleged gratification to the KPK because he wished to set an example for the ranks of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

“I want to be an example for our subordinates, our staff at every level below us,” he said.

He noted that the process of reporting the alleged gratification went smoothly.

Meanwhile, KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the reporting of the alleged gratification received by the minister from OSO was a positive development.

“This is certainly a positive example for every state official to report any gifts they receive,” Budi said.

He explained that the report constituted a form of corruption prevention against potential conflicts of interest going forward.

Previously, on 16 February 2026, social media platform X was abuzz with discussion about the Religious Affairs Minister’s use of a private jet.

On the same date, Head of the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ Public Relations and Communications Bureau, Thobib Al Asyhar, explained that the minister had used a private jet when visiting Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi, on 15 February 2026.

Furthermore, Thobib explained that the private jet belonged to national figure Oesman Sapta Odang, who had lent it to the minister for the sake of time efficiency.

“Mr OSO specifically invited and hoped that the Sarkiah Hall would be inaugurated by the minister. Mr OSO also took the initiative to prepare his private jet for the minister so that he could attend amid his packed schedule,” Thobib said in an official statement on the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ website.

On 18 February 2026, KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto expressed hope that the minister would report the alleged gratification voluntarily without having to be summoned by the anti-corruption body.
