Religious Affairs Minister Inaugurates MAN Insan Cendekia Serpong as an IB World School
The inauguration was conducted during a working visit by Nasaruddin to the MAN IC Serpong campus on Friday, 22 May 2026. Nasaruddin was accompanied by Dirgayuza Setiawan, Special Assistant to the President for Communications and Policy Analysis.
“This proves that globally oriented education is not the preserve of expensive elite schools. Indonesian state Madrasahs can also stand on par with the world’s best schools,” Nasaruddin said.
“According to him, the achievement refutes the long-held belief that international education is only accessible to a select few. He added that students at Indonesian state Madrasahs now have opportunities to study to global standards comparable with pupils in many advanced countries.”
“International Baccalaureate (IB) is known as one of the education systems that shapes students to think critically and to have a high social conscience. MAN IC Serpong has received official recognition as an IB provider within one year—from May 2025 to May 2026.”
“Moreover, Nasaruddin said the achievement is a source of pride for Indonesian education as a whole. All IB programme teachers at MAN IC Serpong are 100% Indonesian, not imported teachers.”
“He said this proves that Indonesian teachers have the quality and capability to meet international educational standards. The teacher-empowerment programme is being implemented via the Akademi Guru Kader Bangsa (AGKB).”
“The Ministry of Religious Affairs emphasised that the success at MAN IC Serpong is not simply a triumph for one school, but a model of education that can be developed for madrasahs across Indonesia.”
“According to him, the achievement also aligns with former President B. J. Habibie’s vision of delivering world-class science education based on faith and piety.”
