Religious Affairs Minister hopes UIN FAS will become centre for Islamic development in Bengkulu
Bengkulu City (ANTARA) - Religious Affairs Minister (Menag) Nasaruddin Umar hopes that the State Islamic University Fatmawati Soekarno (UIN FAS) Bengkulu will become a world-class university in the future and serve as the centre for Islamic development in Bengkulu Province. To that end, Bengkulu’s strategic position must be strengthened by the presence of a centre for moderate, excellent, and globally competitive Islamic studies. “You should be proud to be at UIN FAS. This campus has a great history and extraordinary potential to produce influential Muslim scholars,” he said at UIN FAS Bengkulu on Friday. He stated that students at UIN Fatmawati Soekarno Bengkulu must prepare themselves to become future intellectual figures. Furthermore, the entire academic community should regard the Al-Quran as an extraordinary miracle and the primary source of knowledge. “If you want to master the future, the key is ‘iqra’. Read, learn, and apply it. Build civilisation with knowledge and morals,” he said. Additionally, for the lecturers at UIN Fatmawati Soekarno Bengkulu, they should continue to ignite enthusiasm and instill confidence in students, as lecturers must be motivators capable of uncovering the best potential in their pupils. “Ignite the students’ spirit. Convince them that they are capable of becoming intellectual figures, ulama, and future leaders,” he said.
