Religious Affairs Minister Conveys Easter Greetings to Indonesian Christians
Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Prof KH Nasaruddin Umar conveyed Easter greetings for 2026 to Christians in Indonesia. In his message, this Grand Imam of Jakarta’s Istiqlal Mosque invited the faithful to pray for peace, tranquillity, and harmony for the Indonesian nation.
According to Nasaruddin, Easter is not merely a religious celebration but also a reinforcement of spiritual values that can be realised in community life. He stressed the importance of using the spirit of Easter as a foundation to strengthen brotherhood and maintain social harmony.
“I urge that in the joy of this Easter, the Christian community also prays for society, the nation, and the Indonesian state to live in an atmosphere of peace, tranquillity, coolness, and full harmony,” Nasaruddin stated in Jakarta on Saturday (4/4/2026).
Nasaruddin hopes the Easter celebration brings blessings to the entire community and nation. He also called on all parties to continue nurturing togetherness in diversity for a harmonious and peaceful Indonesia.
The Christian community has undergone the Lenten period for 40 days, followed by Palm Sunday and the Holy Triduum—Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday Vigil—leading to the Easter celebration.
Nasaruddin hopes that the entire series of worship will further strengthen Christians in the joy of faith, hope, and God’s love. “Once again, happy Easter. May God bless us all,” he said.
