Religious Affairs Minister Arrives at Ministry Office Ahead of Isbat Session for 1 Syawal 1447 H

Religious Affairs Minister (Menag) Nasarudin Umar arrived at the Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag RI). Nasarudin will participate in the series of Isbat sessions to determine 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah.

Observations by detikcom at the location on Thursday (19/3/2026) showed Nasarudin arriving at the Kemenag RI office in Central Jakarta around 4:45 PM WIB. Nasarudin immediately entered the room to attend the seminar on the crescent moon’s position.

The Isbat session is scheduled to take place at 7:00 PM WIB, followed by a press conference announcing the determination of 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah at 7:25 PM WIB.

Isbat Session Methods

In its implementation, the Isbat session combines two main methods: hisab and rukyat. The hisab method uses astronomical calculations to determine the moon’s position mathematically, without direct observation.

Meanwhile, the rukyat method involves direct observation of the hilal (first crescent moon) on the horizon after sunset. This observation is conducted by experts at various designated locations to ensure the visibility of the hilal.

Both methods have strong scientific and religious foundations and have been used in Islamic history. The combination of hisab and rukyat in the Isbat session reflects the government’s efforts to maintain a balance between scientific knowledge and religious teachings.
