Relax! Transport Minister Dudy Reveals Avtur and Fuel Supplies Safe During Lebaran

Jakarta — Transport Minister (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi has assured that avtur and fuel supplies for transport operations during Lebaran 1447 Hijri remain secure, even amid geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. He said national avtur and BBM reserves are sufficient to keep air, land, and sea transport services running normally during the mudik period. “Alhamdulillah, until Lebaran it is safe, because our avtur or BBM reserves are still sufficient,” the minister said at a media briefing in Jakarta on Friday night. He was responding to a question regarding statements by Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia that the national BBM stock could last about 21 days. The minister explained that the 21-day figure represents the current storage capacity, and if capacity is larger, the government can actually store more fuel. However, he stressed that this figure does not mean reserves will run out after 21 days, as stock is replenished periodically to maintain supply. “So, 21 days is not to be understood as 21 days to depletion, but a minimum that we must maintain. So if it declines later, Pertamina and ESDM will add,” Dudy explained. He noted that the government maintains the reserves at a 21-day minimum through replenishment mechanisms when stock declines, ensuring national fuel supply remains stable. He added that if global supply disruptions occur, the government can obtain oil from other exporting countries to meet domestic fuel needs. “Where will we get more from? The Hormuz area accounts for about 20 percent of total global supply, but there are other sources from which we can obtain BBM,” he said. The minister said the government continues to monitor energy supply conditions to ensure fuel distribution for transport operations is not disrupted even if global dynamics affect the energy supply chain.
