Relatives remember SilkAir victims
SINGAPORE (AP): Relatives of victims of a SilkAir plane crash gathered at a memorial site on Sunday to commemorate the two-year anniversary of the disaster, a spokesperson for the group said.
SilkAir flew 104 families to Palembang, Indonesia, the site of the crash. At a memorial erected there last year, families individually commemorated their relatives.
Families not able to fly to Indonesia attended a memorial service in Singapore.
SilkAir flight MI185, a Boeing 737, crashed in Indonesia en route from Jakarta to Singapore on Dec. 19, 1997. All 104 people on board were killed.
The Indonesian-led investigation of the crash has yet to be concluded. The case has been dogged by speculation that pilot Tsu Way Ming, who had a record of disciplinary problems, may have deliberately crashed the plane.
