Relations with Israel

From Prospek

Opening diplomatic channels with Israel would be tantamount to
an unconstitutional act since our Constitution is against any
form of colonialism and imperialism. If we do this, it means that
we indirectly approve of and support Israel's imperialism against
the people of Palestine.

Furthermore, diplomatic ties are generally established due to
a number of factors, not just in terms of legality. In this case
Indonesia does not have any direct interests in Israel. Take oil
for example, we already have ample access to the Gulf states.

It is not impossible that a strain in relations with those
states would occur if we opened up diplomatic channels with
Israel.

The situation, however, would be sure to be very different if
the Zionist regime left the land of the Palestinians.
