Reject American Intervention, China Defends Iran's Sovereignty

Beijing — The Chinese Foreign Ministry declined to elaborate on any further forms of support that the country has provided to Iran following the attacks by the United States and Israel. China supports Iran’s sovereignty.

“China opposes the US and Israel’s military strikes against Iran, which violate international law. We support Iran in safeguarding its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and national dignity, and in upholding its legitimate rights and interests in accordance with the law,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a press conference in Beijing on Friday, 6 March.

Mao Ning answered reporters’ questions about remarks by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi that Russia and China continue to support Iran politically amid the US and Israel military operations in the Middle East.

However Mao Ning did not specify what forms of support beyond political backing are being provided to Iran.

“China always advocates resolving problems through political and diplomatic means. We urge an immediate cessation of military actions to prevent the conflict from spreading and escalating and to avoid further escalation,” added Mao Ning.
