Rejang Lebong ranks 24th nationally in Safe Food District Programme

The Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) in Rejang Lebong Regency has announced that its working area has achieved 24th place nationally in the Safe Food District Programme. “Based on the interim national evaluation results, Rejang Lebong Regency ranks 24th out of approximately 500 districts and cities in Indonesia,” said Bambang Hermanto, Head of the UPT BPOM in Rejang Lebong, on Tuesday. He explained that this achievement demonstrates a shared perception between the central government, through BPOM, and the regional government in overseeing food and drug supervision. “This synergy is expected to protect the public from the potential dangers of products that do not meet applicable standards and provisions,” Bambang stated. To strengthen health oversight, his agency is proposing that the Rejang Lebong Regency Government issue a specific regulation regarding the use of potent drugs. “We request the support of the regency government to issue a Regent’s Circular concerning the control of antimicrobial resistance or the prudent use of antibiotics. This is an important part of efforts to protect public health,” he said. Additionally, Bambang noted that BPOM’s 2025–2029 Strategic Plan includes several national priority programmes, one of which is the Safe Food Village Programme aimed at extending the reach of supervision to the village level. “BPOM hopes that these ongoing priority programmes will continue to receive full support from the Rejang Lebong Regency Government and related regional apparatus organisations,” Bambang concluded.
