The Indonesian Real Estate Companies Association (REI) has expressed interest in investing capital in the Bandar Negara New City (KBN) area following an invitation from the Lampung Provincial Government on Thursday (7/5/2026). The local government’s openness and significant economic growth are the main factors attracting the property entrepreneurs’ organisation.

REI’s National Chairman Joko Suranto explained that his organisation is always seeking business development opportunities in potential regions. As reported by Kompas, Lampung now ranks third in economic growth on the island of Sumatra.

“REI is the world of entrepreneurs. REI will always look for regions, potentials, and even businesses that can be developed,” said Joko Suranto, REI National Chairman.

Full support from the local government is a crucial point that draws the attention of entrepreneurs. Joko appreciated the proactive stance of the Lampung Provincial Government in facilitating business activities in the area.

“We see what the Provincial Government offers as good. From their attitude first. They provide service, they support activities, they are open. That means they are indeed open,” continued Joko Suranto, REI National Chairman.

Although seeing great opportunities due to Lampung’s geographical location close to the island of Java, REI still prioritises caution. The organisation emphasised the importance of in-depth analysis of the region’s economic growth before taking expansion steps.

“It turns out Lampung is number three in growth in Sumatra. That means it’s an opportunity, and in terms of distance, it’s like on the lips of Java, so the opportunities are indeed very large,” said Joko Suranto, REI National Chairman.

REI plans to conduct a series of field verifications to mitigate investment risks. This evaluation covers aspects of regulations, market, and land legality in the New City area.

“We will certainly look, listen, verify, exercise, then calculate, then there will definitely be further discussions,” continued Joko Suranto, REI National Chairman.

Sectors such as warehousing, tourism, and housing are considered highly potential for development. This depends on market demand and the availability of supportive policies from the local government.

“Tourism, warehousing, housing, whatever has market potential, then the policies support it, and the risks can be controlled, we take it,” said Joko Suranto, REI National Chairman.

As a precautionary measure, REI is also delving into information on infrastructure constraints, including flooding issues in some areas. Entrepreneurs want to ensure that all problems from upstream to downstream can be resolved before construction begins.

“Yesterday we had a slight question from the mayor about flooding, we will find out where that is. Don’t let us not see the potential problems from the upstream,” concluded Joko Suranto, REI National Chairman.
