Efforts to restore regions in Aceh continue unabated. The Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (Satgas Rehab-Rekon) is carrying out various on-site activities, including an environmental clean-up programme through a cash-for-work scheme. The programme was implemented at the end of March 2026 in two affected areas, namely Pidie Jaya Regency and Aceh Tamiang Regency, involving hundreds of combined personnel and local residents. The clean-up activities focused on Gampong Meunasah Lhok in Meureudu Subdistrict and Gampong Meunasah Raya in Meurah Dua Subdistrict. Implementation took place from 28 March to 4 April 2026. Meanwhile, in Aceh Tamiang Regency, 400 residents have been involved in similar activities since 27 March to 2 April 2026. The Head of the Aceh Regional Post and Director General of Regional Administration Development at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Safrizal ZA, stated that the cash-for-work scheme was chosen so that the benefits of recovery can be felt directly by residents. “Through cash for work, residents are directly involved in restoring their areas while also receiving instant income to help their needs after Eid,” said Safrizal ZA in an official statement on Saturday (28/3/2026). Safrizal emphasised that distribution is carried out with principles of transparency and accuracy so that community rights can be received promptly. This environmental clean-up programme is part of a series of rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in Aceh. The government targets phased recovery of affected areas with conditions better than before.
